She started studying music early on, having completed the 8th grade of Piano and Musical Education at the <a href=\"http:\/\/amvp.pt\/\">Academia de M\u00fasica de Vilar do Para\u00edso<\/a>.<br \/>\nDuring the 2002 summer holidays she wrote what would later become <a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/a-filha-dos-mundos\/\"><em>Daughter of the Worlds<\/em><\/a>, the first tome of the fantasy trilogy <em>The Sceptre of Aerzis<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/a-senhora-da-noite-e-das-brumas\/\"><em>Lady of Night and Mists<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/a-rainha-das-terras-da-luz\/\"><em>Queen of the Lands of Light<\/em><\/a> followed, respectively in 2003 and 2004. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gailivro.pt\/en\/\">Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Gailivro<\/a> published all books a year after they were written and, between 2012 and 2013, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.11x17.pt\/\">11&#215;17<\/a> republished them as paperbacks.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/preludio\/\"><em>Prelude<\/em><\/a> came out in 2007 as an imprint of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gailivro.pt\/en\/\">Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Gailivro<\/a>. In early 2010 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portoeditora.pt\/\">Porto Editora<\/a> published <a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/o-passado-que-seremos\/\"><em>The past we shall become<\/em><\/a>. Several of In\u00eas Botelho\u2019s stories have appeared in magazines and short story collections; the <a href=\"https:\/\/inesbotelho.com\/o-dia-da-salamandra\/\"><em>Imperfect Tales<\/em><\/a> collection has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urogallo.eu\/prodotto\/racconti-imperfetti\/\">translated to Italian<\/a>. In\u00eas Botelho also pens the \u201cThere be trails\u201d column for <a href=\"https:\/\/revistabang.com\/\">Revista Bang!<\/a>.<br \/>\nHolding a degree in Biology from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sigarra.up.pt\/fcup\/en\/web_page.Inicial\">Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto<\/a>, in 2013 she received a Master of Anglo-American Studies from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sigarra.up.pt\/flup\/en\/WEB_PAGE.INICIAL\">Faculty of Arts<\/a> of the same institution, having written her <a href=\"https:\/\/repositorio-aberto.up.pt\/handle\/10216\/72308\">dissertation<\/a> on representations of \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d in Angela Carter\u2019s <em>The Bloody Chamber<\/em>. During these years she also took part in two Erasmus programs, first in Milan, then in Prague.<br \/>\nSince 2014 she is a collaborator of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cetaps.com\/\">CETAPS \u2013 Centre for English Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies<\/a>. Her main research focus on utopian studies as well as folk and fairy tales and their use in literature, cinema, photography, and dance, while her other areas of interest include feminism, modernism, postmodernism, intertextuality, fantasy, and science fiction.
